Making breakfast for 16 waking pilgrims, then turning 16 beds over every morning, doing all of the laundry, spotlessly cleaning a three-storey hostel, serving coffee, snacks and lunch to day-time walkers – all before noon takes special dedication. It also takes talent, and especially love. Then turning around to create a spectacular 3 course dinner for 16 hungry pilgrims, cleaning that up and getting breakfast ready for the next morning – well that takes unbelievable resilience! Jessica, our long time Portuguese partner in crime, and Lucas, our Aussie / Portuguese dry-humoured comic and all-time medic tirelessly did all of this DAY IN AND DAY OUT…with a smile.
For Geof and I, Jessie and Lucas made our lives a great deal richer, easier, and brought with them a great deal of fun.
Thanks to both of you for taking on the large and often challenging tasks of running a packed albergue and leaving us with incredibly wonderful memories and a whole whack of great operating practices.
We wish you well in your new endeavours in life …and hope this next chapter in your lives will bring you everything you are looking for! You will be very much missed.
